THE KAYU MULTI LOOM

A tool born from curiosity

I’m Flor, the designer behind KAYU. I’m from Chile, and for the past 17 years, I’ve been exploring the world of pin looms, creating books, patterns, objects, garments and countless new ways to weave.

When I first started, I dreamed of creating my ideal pin loom.

I imagined something simple: one single board that would be easy to store, easy to carry and versatile enough to create different geometric shapes in different sizes.

The first version had six looms on a single board. That’s why I named it KAYU (“six” in Mapudungun language).

What started as an experiment became a journey of discovery. Every new shape opened up another possibility and I began to see just how much could be created from one simple board.

Ten years later, the KAYU is made in the USA and has evolved into one compact board with 15 different loom sizes: 7 squares, 6 triangles and 2 rectangles.

The KAYU has traveled far beyond where it began, finding its way into homes, studios and creative hands around the world.

What began as a simple idea has become a way for people to slow down, work with their hands and turn simple materials into something uniquely their own. Today, the KAYU continues to open the door to new ideas, new projects, and new ways of seeing what a simple pin loom can do.

Designed to give you more possibilities with less, KAYU lets you experiment with different sizes, yarns, colors, patterns and weaving techniques, all from one portable tool.

Use each shape on its own, combine different shapes, repeat them, turn them and see where they take you. From simple woven pieces to larger surfaces, objects, and garments, a small geometric unit can become the starting point for something much bigger.
